  1. Three bluescreens in the past 12 hours, each with a different message

I don't remember what the first one was, but the second one was "Kmode exception not handled" and the third one, just a few minutes ago, was "IRQL_not_less_or_equal".

The second BSOD was just random, happened out of nowhere while watching a video file from my hard drive. The third one happened while I was installing a program (Macrium Reflect).

The usual google/Microsoft guides for handling BSODs aren't all that helpful, they just give generic advice like "update drivers" and "update windows" and "reset your PC". I already checked to make sure every device driver I have is updated, Windows in general is up to date, and this Windows installation is a completely fresh one from just two weeks ago. I also re-seated the RAM sticks, since that's the usual suspect of BSODs.

Is there anything specific to look for in Event Viewer? I don't see anything weird before the BSOD, just "ERROR" and "CRITICAL" about the previous shutdown being unexpected.

I do however, see a BugCheck that lists a few 0x values:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0xffffec8a74f59f10, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff802064b745d). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP.

    Best thermal paste

Most decent thermal paste is about all the same (1-2 degree difference). Without knowing the two listed, (I use MX-2), I would suggest going with the one that is non-conductive.

    Hi David,

To know what kind of troubleshooting steps would be applicable to your bluescreen error, please answer these questions:

    • What is the exact error message showing on your end?
    • Were there any changes/updates to your device prior to the issue?
    • Any troubleshooting steps you've done so far to resolve the issue?

For now, you can have a look at the troubleshooting step on this link as an initial remedy to the bluescreen
