  1. Three separate Windows 10 deaths on different disks. Help :(

Hey there, wondering if anyone can shed any light on this.

I've only been a Windows 10 user on my own PC since February this year when I bought a new PC with a Windows 10 SSD. After a few weeks I was watching a youtube video one day and my PC just froze out of nowhere, the video stopped loading as if I had lost internet connectivity then the PC just froze completely. I tried everything possible on the startup repair menu but it would not let me format, repair, reinstall or anything, it just kept saying there was a problem with all of them.

Thinking it was just a fault SSD I then purchased a new SSD with a new licensed copy of Windows 10 installed and what do you know, after a couple of weeks I'm watching a youtube video just like before, it appears I've lost internet and the video stops loading and same thing, PC freezes, I restart, this time the repair process does attempt to reinstall windows but as soon as the OS loads I get an error message telling me to restart and try again and I'm stuck in a loop.

Luckily this time I had purchased a USB recovery drive so I swap out the SSD for my old big HDD with Windows 7 and as an experiment I used the recovery drive to install Windows 10 over it on a non-SSD. That was around a week ago and today, same circumstances. Watching youtube, looks like I've lost connectivity and the entire OS freezes.

In all 3 of these instances I've been forced to do a power off because it would not accept ctrl+alt+del at all. On this latest attempt, after rebooting I was presented with a "disk read error press ctrl+alt+del to restart" a few times and only unplugging and replugging my HDD into the motherboard fixed it and the PC has rebooted into Windows 10 seemingly normally this time.

Since all 3 of these crashes have happened on 3 separate drives and all in identical circumstances of watching a YouTube video on Chrome, I'm obviously taking the precaution of using another browser at the moment.

It's been many years since I've been seriously knowledgeable enough about PCs to even begin to know what the problem might be here. Can anyone point me in the right direction, what I may be doing wrong and what info is needed for anyone to offer a solution? I realise that most PC help topics require a long list of specific system information and if anyone can tell me the easiest way to provide that, I'd be happy to. Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  4. Three separate Windows 10 deaths on different disks. Help :(

What should I have as backup-a RECOVERY disk or a REPAIR disk? Are these the same or different?

Got the free upgrade to Windows 10 and I need to start making some kind of a Repair/Recovery disk.

Are these the same thing? Are they different?

Can someone list the steps needed to make this/ these disk (s)?

    Thank you.
