Windows 10: Thumbnail Preview will not disable for me in Windows 11

I have seen this question asked a number of times but not answered to successful conclusion. When the mouse hovers over the taskbar a thumbnail image of the open app appears see attached screenshot. Not only is it very annoying but normally gets in the way when working in an active app. I have tried the below actions and nothing works. Disable Taskbar Thumbnail Preview?

Hey there,

I was just searching the internet for ways to disable the Taskbar Thumbnail Preview in Windows 10, and I found one that half-worked (only some apps use list view instead of thumbnails). I was wondering if there was a way to completely disable the preview?
I am alright editing the registry.

Can't disable taskbar thumbnail preview. Tried all the ways (4?) found on the internet, including the ones suggested by this Community.

How can it be that an issue with "disable taskbar thumbnail preview" was not solved in all the years since Windows Vista?

Yesterday Microsoft announced new Copilot AI features and all that advanced stuff... yet they can't make their BASIC visualisation/performance options work. Laughable and pathetic.

Thumbnail previews for images are indeed still available in Windows 11. They are not on folders anymore, but you never could really see anything from them anyways. Double check using the tutorial below to make sure you have thumbnail previews enabled and turned on. This will also depend on the default app you have set to open these file types and if the app supports thumbnails. Usually using the built-in Photos app is best for this.

If thumbnail previews is enabled and turned on with the Photos app as default and still not seeing them, then you could see if clearing and resetting the thumbnail cache below may help.
