Windows 10: thumbnails are gone and won't come back

Discus and support thumbnails are gone and won't come back in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; I have tried all of the solution I could find, and I cannot get my thumbnails back.     A program won't come to the foreground (Windows 10)

    I have a program (QGIS, which uses QT5) that will not come to the foreground. It starts maximized (that's fine) but it stays behind all my other programs. It can be focused, and I can work in QGIS, but any non-minimized programs stay in front of it.

    I have tried the AutoHotKey script suggested in an answer in this post:
    Program windows won't come to foreground when selected in Windows 8.1 but it didn't help.

    Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

    When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

    Are there any more suggestions?
