Windows 10: thumbnails not showing for photos windows 11

I am trying to move photos from my old computer to my new one. Both are HP. Old computer windows 10 and new computer Windows 11 Home. Using an external hard drive, I was able to transfer my photos using Acronis True image .tib. Unfortunately, the photos are there but it is practically useless. Only the photo icon is showing for all my photos instead of the thumbnails. I have tried many things I have found online to fix this. Clearing cache, making sure always show icons, not thumbnails is deselected. Windows update. Everything posted online and there are many solutions, DO NOT WORK.

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?

Hi there chaps.

I have this problem with File Explorer. I have checked the box "Always show icons, never thumbnails"



But not all of the thumbnails are showing. I get a mixture of the "mountain" icon as well as some thumbnails.



I have tried to delete the thumbnail cache and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do? Any help would be appreciated.

Folder Photos: Showing Thumbnail Photos Rather Than IrfanView Icons ?

Open File Explorer > top right, click Options > click Change folder and search options > click View at top > UN-check the box " Always show icons, never thumbnails" > OK when done.
