Windows 10: Thumbnails not showing -- Troubleshooting failed.

I've got a brand new laptop and transferred a bunch of files over. Everything's running like a dream but my only beef is that my image previews aren't loading properly. I'm uncertain if it's an issue with OneDrive or what-- but I've tried nearly EVERYTHING in an attempt to get them to work.


Things I've Done:

Cleared the Cache

Cleared the Cache [Thumnails only]

Cleared the Cache [As Admin]

Restarted computer [4x]

Cleared thumbnail cache via command prompt

Double checked that files were selected to be LARGE ICONS and that the pesky option to not have thumbnails show was deselected.


After all that-- I reset for funsies. Still nothing. I'm stuck looking at a screen with none of my image previews loading-- just those darn image icons that indicate they're png files. That's it.


Any help would be appreciated. I know this has been addressed before but I've tried every fix I've seen to no avail.

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?

KB4025339 Fails Install 0x80070564

I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!
