Windows 10: Thumbnails won't display in Pictures

When I open This PC, I can open all my folders.

I can open any word document, pdf files, folders, whatever - as long as it is not a photo. I can even access the screenshots I've taken with Screen Hunter.

The most obvious is when I open Pictures, the names of different folders are there, butno folder icon. Just blank spaces.





When I open one of these folders blank spaces, the names of the photos are there, butno thumbnail of the photo. Another space.



When I open any one of these photos blank spaces, it does open the photo.


The problem is that since I have more than one photo in my Pictures folder, I'd really like to see which of these hundreds of spaces available is the picture I want.

I would love to have my thumbnails back again.


This issue is true of all my stored photos, even ones pertaining to work documents.


Please help.

Pictures do not ALWAYS display as thumbnail preview wIN 10

For all the time I've had Win10, Pictures file folders and individual pictures have always displayed as thumbnails. In the past couple of weeks they began showing up as just a list of files. I can switch them back to thumbnails but they don't stay thumbnails.

How do I make thumbnails the default?

I did steps that you mention above, but a problem is the same; Some pictures are still displayed as thumbnail and some still are icons.

Windows 10 Picture Files not updating thumbnails

Hi,

I realize that the picture files are not updating thumbnails. I will try to help you with this issue.

Suggest you to perform “Disk Cleanup”, cleaning up the temporary internet files, thumbnail, cookies and temp files, so as to check the thumbnail view of the photo is updated by cleaning up your temporary data.

Further, if the issue persists then you can also follow these steps:

• 
  Right click in the Folder that contains the images.
  
• 
  Select View.
  
• 
  Note the current icon size, and change it to another size (ie: "Medium-Icons" to "Large-Icons", then back to "Medium-Icons").
  
• 
  This causes the icons to be resized and their cache updated.
