  1. Thunderbolt device connected but not found in Device Manager on Windows 11

I have a Ryzen 7950X3D running on ASUS Crosshair Hero X670E which has USB4/Thunderbolt 3 ports. I been using a HighPoint TB3 to PCIE enclosure for installing a 10GB network card. Recently I picked up the QNAP QNA-T310G1S adapter, which I found it to be much more compact and didn't require external power. However, the strange thing is when I plug the adapter into my system, it is seen under Thunderbolt Control Center, but no device actually shows up in Device Manager.I'm on the latest BIOS from ASUS, latest chipset driver, Thunderbolt driver installed, Thunderbolt enabled in BIOS. Quite stumped

    :)

  3. Viewing Thunderbolt ports in Device Manager (Windows 10)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand your query related to finding Thunderbolt ports in Device Manager.

Usually, when you install Windows 10 on a PC, the drivers are automatically installed through Windows Updates. The Thunderbolt port can be found under System Devices in Device Manager. You may want to check by connecting a device to the Thunderbolt
port and see if you are able to use the Device.

Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards,

    Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices

When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.

The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a "non-present" device. Sometimes also called a "ghost" device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).

    Device can be disconnected when
    • Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
    • Turning a device OFF
    • Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won't detect it) or
    • Device failure

    So
    • Check BIOS as suggested
    • Check board connections
    • Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?
Also possible the b/t h/w failed
