Time/Date jumps forward when PC wakes from Hibernation or Sleep.

When I wake my PC from sleep or/and hibernation the date and time always jump forward. Sometimes months.

Here is what I've tried to fix it:-
Checked time zone and region settings.
Turn off hibernation via command line with >powercfg/h on
Turn on hibernation via command line with>powercfg/h off
Several different combinations of setting in the power options.
Checked Windows Time service is set to automatic and windows is set to sync to time.windows.com.
Changed bios battery. (Bios time is always right.)
Installed a 3rd party time server sync tool (Network Time Synchronization).
Fresh install of Windows 10 pro.
Updated all drivers to latest versions.
    Updated firmware of Nvidia card.
Updated motherboard bios to latest version.

Another issue is that the login window will sometimes freeze after the PC wakes with the wrong time and date displayed sometimes with a blue background or sometimes with the lock screen wallpaper. The PC has to be manually restarted when this happens.

I think this may be a problem with RAM but the timings settings are double dutch to me.

I have found loads of post with simular problems but none that have provided me with the answer to my problem.

The PC runs flawlessly otherwise so I'm pretty sure that faulty hardware is not the problem.

    Any help please.

    :)

    Windows 10 Updates

Let it go to sleep mode it will wake and do it.

Let it go into hibernate mode, if newer it will wake and do it.

Why not just restart the PC and let it start doing the update before or when you go to bed. It can do it and turn itself off with sleep 30 minutes later then it will automatically hibernate(power off) 3 hrs after.

Newer pc's can wake at 3am, older pc's will not wake from hibernate & the next time you turn it on it will do the update.

  3. Odd screen after PC wakeup

Hello, for some reason every time I wake up my PC from sleep the screen looks like this

The only workaround that I've found is to hibernate and then wake up from hibernation, after that everything is Ok.

My bios drivers are up to date and I've also tried to restore de default settings for waking up the pc .

Time/Date jumps forward when PC wakes from Hibernation or Sleep.

Are you using a computer that is set up for Dual Boot, so that you can use another OS? You need to put down in "My System Spec's" if you are using Home or Pro version of Windows. Are you able to sync with the Time Server? Follow the info at this link for checking NTP settings. windows - How can I check a system's current NTP configuration? - Super User

If it is showing "UTC" time, the Time Sync Tool can help. It needs to be corrected without the tool. Make sure you are using the following steps when checking the time.

    • Press “Windows+X” and click on “control panel”.
    • On the left hand side click on “clock, language and region”.
    • Click on “change time zone”.
    • And then click on the tab “internet time” and click on “change settings”.
    • Check the box “synchronize with an internet time server” and also select the option “time.windows.com” from the drop down and click on “ok” and check if the issue persists.

Tried that before but forgot to add it to the list sorry.
Also the link you provided is where I found the 3rd party time server sync tool (Network Time Synchronization).

Yes I know that. That is why I mentioned it to you in case the tool that you are using is not working. There are a couple more out there, that if you search Major Geeks download repository, you should find them.

Are you doing any kind of Dual boot with that machine?

No just Windows 10 Pro. I'm beginning to suspect faulty RAM or MOBO.

RAM and the Motherboard would not do it. Go through the steps again for fixing it. Something is making it jump in time.

In the end I disconnected all usbs and all additional hdd and did another fresh install of win 10 pro created by the latest microsoft media creation tool which seems to have fixed my issue. Not an ideal solution but I had tried everything over the past 2 weeks.

Use the ISO from Microsoft.com, not the tool. The tool has to download from the Internet to install windows, when the ISO is the latest version and updates to date for that version.

The problem has returned. Waking my PC from sleep at 6-00pm on Wednesday 8th Feb my clock read the 00:20 on 6th March. On tracking back what I had installed in the past few days, I found the problem. I use Private Internet Access for Netflix on occasions and had recently installed the windows client. I uninstalled the client and my clock problem went away. I reinstalled and the problem returned. This time instead of uninstalling I disabled auto start up of the client. This sorted my clock issue but just to be 100% I re-enabled start up with windows in the PIA settings again and restarted without connecting to the service, and the problem returned. So the issue is not caused by connecting to a proxy but by just thaving client software running in the background connected or not. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem because its been driving me mad.
