Windows 10: Time on PC freezes, and all programs become unrepsonsive, but I can still move the mouse.

Hey,So I've been getting an issue lately that is happening more and more frequently. Essentially my computer freezes but I can still move my mouse and try to open things. I can tell that it is frozen as the time stays the same and all programs become unresponsive to new commands, but I can still close each program and log out/restart my computer, I just can't do anything "new". Its like my computer become frozen at a certain time and can't continue until I restart my computer.Any suggestions?

PC freezes while using mouse

I understand that the mouse freezes when you try to use it on the PC. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC?
   
2. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?
   
3. How is the mouse connected to the PC?
   
4. What is the make and model of the PC?
   

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and see if that helps.



Method 1:



Perform a Clean Boot on the PC and see if the mouse still freezes. Refer the article

How to perform a clean boot in Windows



Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after performing a clean boot on
the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.



If the mouse does not freezes after performing Clean Boot, then please refer the section
How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot
to identify the root cause of the issue.



Note:

Method 2:



Try updating the Display Drivers and see if that helps. Refer the article

Computer and mouse freeze

Hi

There are several reasons that could have cause your keyboard and mouse to freeze. To know more about the issue, we will ask some questions to help us:

• Were there recent changes made before the issue occurred?

PC Freezes for 1-2 seconds when launching certain programs

The PC would freeze for a few seconds when I open certain programs the first time after waking the PC from sleep. It would not freeze if I open the program again after the first time, until I sleep the PC again. Programs that would freeze are e.g. MPC, Potplayer, etc.

System specs in profile

Tried:
-Clean Windows 10 install, twice
-Newest drivers
-New Monitor, New TV

Any Suggestions? Thanks!
