Windows 10: Time restricted WOL

Hello,I'm wondering if there is a way I can have my windows 10 machine ignore WOL requests during certain hours? At the moment I'm getting loads of wakeup requests and powercfg reports them as power button but if I disable WOL they stop I would like to keep the WOL functionality as this box is all my network storage and media but for a good 6 or 7 hours a day it doesn't need to be randomly waking up all the time.Ideally I would like the machine to shutdown at 2am and ignore any WOL, the BIOS will start the machine up in the morning

Laptop updated to 1809. Can't get WOL to send out...

Not sure the topic is exactly accurate. Here's the story:

• Have been successful sending WOL to 2 other PCs in the house
• Had problems with laptop and sent to HP. They upgraded it to 1809
• Now when I send WOL packets the other PCs will not wake up

Given that it was working fine on those PCs before, and the noted changes are to the PC sending the packet, I'm assuming that my sending PC needs something configured.

My searches on WOL only find stuff about setting it up on the remote PC so it will wake up.

Any suggestions about why my sending PC is not sending?

 

Windows turns off network adapter (WOL not working)

Hi,

I'm having an issue with the network adaptor on my motherboard.

As far as I can tell, I should have everything setup properly for WOL to function.

• When the machine goes into sleep mode, WOL works fine.
  
• If I turn off the PC by holding down the power off button, WOL works.
  
• If I turn off the PC by clicking shutdown, I can watch the lights on the switch port the PC is connected to, and see that the network adaptor gets turned off as the lights go out, and WOL does not work.
  
  • Once the machine is off, if I unplug the power, give it a few seconds and reconnect it, the network lights turn on again and WOL works.
    

From this I am to assume that there is a setting in windows somewhere that is causing it to turn off the network adaptor during shutdown but I don't seem to be able to find a setting like that anywhere.

Is anybody able to help with this?

Enable Wireless WOL

Hi,

For us to narrow down the issue with your Wireless WOL, we would like to know the following:

• Are you logged in to your laptop as an Administrator?
• Which Windows version are you using?
• Were you able to find a Wake-on-LAN option on your BIOS settings?
