Windows 10: Time zone keeps defaulting to the wrong one

HelloMy computer keeps changing my time zone to an incorrect one - aways the same one. I have turned off setting my time zone automatically and this enables me to have the correct time but as soon as I turn it on again it reverts to the wrong zone. When I leave the 'set time zone automatically' off I keep the correct time zone for a while but it seems to soon revert back to the wrong one and the toggle seems to switch back to setting it automatically.I have tried resetting my Internet Time Settings but that has not been successful. I am experiencing a persistent issue with the time zone settings on a Surface Laptop 4 device and would appreciate any assistance or suggestions.

**Details of the Issue:** Despite thorough troubleshooting, the device's time zone continues to change unexpectedly. Here are the steps I have already taken to address the issue:

1. Ensured Windows Updates are up to date.

2. Disabled automatic time zone updates.

3. Removed or disabled third-party software that might be affecting the time zone settings.

4. Verified Windows Time service settings in Windows Services (set to Automatic).

5. Adjusted Registry Editor settings (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tzautoupdate) to enable automatic updates (set the value to "2"). 6. Performed multiple system reboots.

**Temporary Solution:** I implemented a temporary solution by running an automatic script to set the time to CST upon login. I also provided instructions for manual execution if needed. Despite these efforts, the issue persists. If anyone has encountered a similar problem or has any additional troubleshooting steps or suggestions, your help would be greatly appreciated.

"Set time zone automatically" sets to the wrong time zone, and swaps throughout the day

I did these steps and upon turning on "set time zone automatically" it still sets the wrong time zone.

Thank you for the detailed answer. Here's what I've done with your instructions.

• CMOS battery was replaced by Dell this week.
  
• I do not believe I have a system restore point enabled.
  
• Windows location services were already on.
  
• I had already cleared my location history, I did it again, did not fix the problem.
  
• I cleared my Microsoft account location history, did not fix the problem.
  
• I note that the Microsoft Maps app shows me in the wrong location -- Albuquerque, NM. I reset the app, no improvement. I deleted the app, no improvement.
  
• I tried Bing Maps. It first shows my default location, then zooms to that same location in Albuquerque, NM. I reported a problem with my location via feedback.
  
• After all these steps, enabling Automatic Time Zone immediately changes me to Mountain Time Zone (incorrect), instead of Pacific Time Zone (correct).
  

My children have told me this would not be a problem with a Mac. Beginning to agree. Is my next stop Microsoft support? I haven't had good luck there in the past.
