Windows 10: Time zone setting problem... 4 years later

Hello all,


I noticed there was a locked thread from 2016 regarding the wrong time zone settings for Win 10. I am currently having this same issue with my MacBook Pro running Windows 10. For the longest time, it was choosing the UTC only but now is stuck in Eastern. Has there not been any resolution to this issue yet? It can have some consequences with time monitored tasks or permissions, etc.

Fluctuating Time Zone Setting

I would suggest you to check if the values for “set time automatically” and “set time zone automatically” under Date and Time settings are “ON”. If not, then suggest you to make the vale to “ON” and check for the status.

If the issue still persists, follow the steps provided below:

• Press Windows key + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
• Locate Windows Time from the list and double click on the service.
• In Genereal tab, set the Startup type to Automatic.
• Click on Apply and OK.

Set Time Zone Automatically

Your suggestion, while good, did not correct my problem. What it did do was lead me to the answer, thank you.

Seems that the default location set for my computer was blank. When time zone was set to automatic, Windows didn't know where I was and probably reverted to the last entry in the zone list, Moscow. I re-entered my proper location, set the zone to Auto and
everything was good to go.

 

Fluctuating Time Zone Setting

My time zone setting is fluctuating regularly. It had been set to my local time zone, but has fluctated to a range of adjacent time zones over the last two weeks

These have all been verified by checking Outlook Calendar entries

The original time zone was Brisbane

it then changed to Sydney, Melbourne

about a week later it changed to Vladivostok

and today it changed to Darwin

I have not made any changes to settings in this time (I picked up the issue from Outlook Calendar entries)

I have changed the setting to Brisbane and turned off set time automatically

Appreciate any suggestions
