    Timer notifications no longer working

    Hi everyone.

I've been using the timer function of the default "Alarms & Clock" app almost every day since I switched to Windows 10. Today it stopped working.

When the timer hits 0:00 the notification in the lower right corner won't pop up and the alarm sound won't play... until I open the start menu. For example if I set a timer for 10 minutes, nothing will happen at 0:00. Only if and when I open the start menu or hit the Windows key after those 10 minutes, then the timer will go off.

I really like this app and want to keep using it to track my shifts at work. Any suggestions? Any ideas what it has to do with the start menu?

PS. Notifications for the app are set to on in the settings.

    Thanks.

    :)

    Hi,

You should see if the region of your phone is set up correctly, it needs to be in your regional country. The time and date must be correctly set up.

    Best regards,

  3. Notifications no longer working

I have a Nokia Lumia 521. Since I updated to Windows 8.1, I no longer get any notifications from any downloaded apps, such as kik messenger, twitter, instagram beta, and groupme. But pre-installed apps or apps tailored to Windows such as, Yahoo mail, Google
mail, and outlook all work fine. I have tried to correct the prolem in the settings menu of each individual app as well as the main phone settings, but no luck. Anyone who has any ideas please help

Hi, works for me.. you could try uninstalling it, reinstalling it.

And you could try re-registering it for your acct with this Powershell command:
    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *WindowsAlarms*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

I've experienced this too, both after receiving the Anniversary Update and also with a completely clean install of 1607.

This is what appears to be happening (click pics to enlarge):

If you delete the Countdown Timer and create a new one, it seems to cure the problem and the notifications then work correctly. Although, I haven't tested it over a long period of time to see if the problem stays fixed permanently.

Forget the above. The problem returned for me, so deleting the Countdown Timer and creating a new one only temporarily solves the problem.

Mind you I've found that the Windows 10 Notification Centre has always been unreliable and can't be trusted, even after complete clean installs. Sometimes emails arrive and the first I'm aware of them is when I open the Mail app and find them just sat there in the inbox. Sometimes I delete a calendar event only to find I still receive a reminder for the deleted event. And now the timer function also intermittently fails to give notifications. I've noticed that calendar reminder notifications have also started doing the same thing too (I.E. Don't show notification until the Start Menu is opened).

I'm not sure there's anything we can do other than wait for Microsoft to fix the notification centre, but I wouldn't hold your breath as it has been a mess for over a year now.
