  1. Timestamp Changes Windows 10

I use a server with Windows Server 2012 to store files needed for PCs that we build. Each PC is loaded with our software simply by a copy and paste method.

All of the PCs are set to UTC Coordinated Universal Time and the Server is set to PST Pacific Standard Time.

When I copy files from the server to the PC the timestamp is changed. Example: The timestamp for the files on the server is 11:48 AM. Copy to the PC and the timestamp is 7:48 PM.

This causes a major problem when trying to sync files when new software is to be loaded to the PCs. Because of the timestamp difference, the sync software wants to change ALL files.

This recently started happening. We have been doing this for years with no issues. Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 timestamps

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand, how frustrating it can be, when things don’t work as expected.

I'd be glad to help you.

Please answer the queries, mentioned below:

    • Were you able to install Windows 10 successfully?

    • Did you check, if it is present in Windows.old folder?

    • Where exactly are you trying to check, if the TimeStamps are present?
I would suggest you to follow these steps below to retrieve files manually from Windows.old folder and check, if it helps.

    • Enter This PC in the search box, and then click on
This PC in the search results.
    • Double-tap or double-click the drive that Windows is installed on (typically, the C: drive).
    • Double-tap or double-click the Windows.old folder.
    • Double-tap or double-click the Users folder.
    • Double-tap or double-click your user
      name.
    • Open the Windows.old folder that contain the files you want to retrieve.
    • Copy and paste the files that you want from
      Windows.old
folder to a folder in Windows 10.
    • Repeat steps 5-7 for each user account on your PC.

Please feel free to contact us if you face any issues with Windows.

    Thank you.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
