Windows 10: Tip for those having trouble installing Free Avg

Here is how I did it.

I installed the chocolatey Package Manager


I typed in the search cmd.exe then right Clicked on Command Prompt and choose run as administrator.

Then installed Chocolatey Package Manager by following those instruction listed on the website.

Then I closed the command prompt and I typed in the search cmd.exe then right Clicked on Command Prompt and choose run as administrator. Then I typed Choco Search Avg and choose avgantivirusfree. Typed in Choco install avgantivirusfree -y and hit enter. This installs the 32 bit version of AVG even on a 64 bit machine. A reboot may be needed.

Since, it installs everything. You can remove some features you don't want by going to programs and features (You can type that in the search box to find it faster) Right Click on AVG and choose change. Then uninstall the features you don't want. A reboot may be needed.

Feedback hub

Assuming you've done a fresh install of Win10 Version 1703 and Feedback Hub is working now, very good.

TIP: Don't install Avast again, just make sure that the Windows Defender Antivirus and the Windows Firewall are both enabled & working properly.

COMMENT: Avast (and AVG) applications have been fairly "buggy" [IMHO] since Avast acquired AVG last year.

TIP: If you've installed Avast Free again, it will not uninstall properly unless you reboot into Safe Mode and then run the Avast Uninstall Utility (avastclear.exe).
