Windows 10: Title bar does not display in file explorer in Windows 11.

Display full path in title bar doesn't work because there is no title bar. I've restarted, checked for updates, tried all the function, ctrl, etc key options recommended online and nothing changes.

Windows 11 File Explorer "Display the full path in the title bar" does not work

I am using Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2.

I would like the file explorer to always display the proper path when viewing a folder, and the "Display the full path in the title bar" option only works for a few folders.

For example my Downloads folder only ever displays "Downloads" in both the tab and the address bar:

However, my Documents folder properly displays the path in the tab, and displays the full path in the address bar when clicked:

Both of these folders have the "Display the full path in the title bar" option turned on, and are in the same root folder.

You can change the Windows 11 File Explorer address bar to show the full file path by following these steps:

1. Open File Explorer.
   
2. Click on the three-dot menu icon located at the top right of the window.
   
3. Click on 'Options'.
   
4. In the 'Folder Options' window that appears, go to the 'View' tab.
   
5. In the 'Advanced settings' list, find and check the 'Display the full path in the title bar' option.
   
6. Click 'Apply', then 'OK'.

Display the end of the path in title bar

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern and we would happy to get it sorted for you. The display of the beginning path on the tile bar option can be removed and just the end of the path can be displayed.

We would like you to perform this steps.

1. Open File Explorer and click on
   View from the top
   
2. Click on Options.
   
3. Select View tab from the top.
   
4. Uncheck the box beside Display the full path in the title bar.
   
5. Then click on Apply
   
6. Click OK and the reopen the file explorer and check.
