Windows 10: Tiworker.exe, "preparing windows...", system maintenance

Hi all,

my Win 10 Pro AU is very new and clean, and installed with the latest update (two days ago).

Today, I leave alone my pc for a long time.

When I back I found "WINDOWS MODULES INSTALLER" to 20% of CPU and the system fan very loud.

I found that is "TiWorker.exe" the cause.

I also found that the "System maintenance" was ON (I see it in the event viewer).

So I reboot my PC and appeared "PREPARING WINDOWS. DO NOT SHUTDOWN".

I waited for minutes, ten, twelve, etc, so I bore and I turn off from button.

What's happened??? I am almost sure it's related to system maintenance... can be?

my phone says " System Error " while i delete d broken images frm my phone memory...

Connect the Phone to PC and thru' Windows Explorer search for this file. If you find it Delete from there .. See if it works .

 

Hello, powering down is almost the worst thing you could do here, as you could now have corrupt files on your disk. It did say not to.

If your PC will restart and boot up correctly, this is the recommended advice:
TiWorker.exe: CPU usage reaches 50% or 100% in Windows 10| Fix TiWorker issue

If CPU use is very high or you experience heating issues, to limit this (you shouldn't need to) you can download and run this:
BES, Battle Encoder Shirase 1.6.2 (stable) 1.7.0-alpha: Controls Per-Process CPU Usage

If you search the web about this, you will find some dangerous pages and some genuine ones. Be careful.
and configure it to limit the CPU load of this process.

I've not seen this in Win 10 personally.

Meanwhile, please complete your system specs:

and give it an hour, then see if it has stopped running.

When it has, as you've powered off, do this:
From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

I have never seen it before, until yesterday. Same effect observed on all (3) my machines. Related to the last updates? And my PC's donot have yet the anniversary upgrade. After long waiting everything became normal again.

 

Normally, yes. When you install updates TIWorker tidies up your WinSxS directory (where all your Windows software is). Let it finish.
