Windows 10: To change my passed away husbands account into my name ??

Dear SirsI tried to put my name into my passed-away husband RIP Account last month and now I noticed on 20th October Microsoft gave me a new accountand billed me for £79.99 and said my next charge will be 20th October 2025. I saw the bill on his email kPlease can you help me, I do not think it is fair that I now have two family I had a lot to sort out after my ill Husband died on 17th June this year. I could not find anybody to talk to at Microsoft for me to request our account be put into my sole name and now change it back to only me using Microsoft 365 on my gadgets. Thanking

Query about changing the account name

Since you have already changed the name on your Microsoft account, we suggest switching into a local account, and then log back in with your Microsoft account. This way, we can be sure that any changes made to your Microsoft account will be synced to your
local user account.

For steps on how to switch to a local account:

• Click on Start.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Switch to a local account.

To switch back to a Microsoft account:

• Follow steps 1-3 above to get to Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

I need help with this account. The account was/is in my husbands name and he passed away on 6/1/2023

My husband passed away on 6/1/2023 and the account was in his name. I need to update the information on the account and remove his phone number. Also I cannot access my EMail at this time I have no idea what the account number is and I need to change my password to something I can remember the system will not allow me to make the changes.

If I change/edit the profile I can't loose any of the information in the EMail account. There is information that pertains to his death that I need to keep and add to an existing folder. Please if you can call me at 540-840-8184 thank you. I'm pretty desperate

 

Change local user account name in Windows 10

Hello!

I've just reinstalled Win10 and created a second account for my wife. Unfortunately, the login names is the mail she's registered to Microsoft.

How can I change the name.

I've read an answer to same question suggesting following:

I don't have that option in Win10.
