    Hello. Today I updated the BIOS on my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57 from the Acer website and installed the latest version 1.20. Before this I had 1.19. The update installed well and without problems. Now everywhere it says that my bios is 1.20. Except for the device manager. In the device manager, the Acer firmware version is for some reason 5.43.1.19, although it should be 5.43.1.20. Also in the Windows update center they offer me to update the firmware, despite the fact that I have the latest BIOS version. Why is this happening? Bios and Acer firmware are different things? Do I also need to downloa

    Acer laptop: BIOS update, worth it?

    Hello, I own an Acer E5 575G-5622 laptop. Recently bought this machine, it came with 1.12 BIOS version. If I see drivers for my laptop, it also shows me BIOS updates. Currently v1.29 BIOS update is available for this machine.

    My question is that is it worth it to upgrade to latest BIOS version? I have read on the internet that it is often very risky to update BIOS as it most probably would lead to corruption of boot loader. If that was the case, why is Acer still shipping BIOS updates for the laptop?

    If it is worth to upgrade BIOS, what are the procedures and precautionary steps to take in account?

    BIOS update Will Not Install

    Hi @AbdoZaghloul

    Dddn't your Dell Inspiron come with Dell Support Assist pre-installed? If you don't have it, then download and install Dell Support Assist from Dell website. Run it and it will analyse your system and list the updates. If the BIOS is listed, it will download and install.

    ( Today Dell Support Assist notified that an update is available. I ran Dell Support Assist and it listed a BIOS update 1.7.1. On my confirmation it downloaded and installed it. No problems. This is a second Dell Bios Update I had done with Dell Support Assist since I bought the PC ion 25th Dec 2019.)

    Acer laptop: BIOS update, worth it?

    There is something more on the Internet by saying "Don`t fix it if it aint broke". Some people suggest me not to update BIOS UNLESS I am doing it for a very profound reason. Acer is too lazy to dispatch BIOS updates with proper change logs. Now I am stuck in the middle of my decision, should I proceed or not?
