Too many files being searched on a quick scan

I just re-installed windows and did a Microsoft offline scan there is no way the viruses could still be on, in result of the scan being deeper but for a "QUICK" scan that has lasted 5 minutes, IT SCANNED 700,000 FILES FOR A QUICK SCAN, can't tell if it's a improper display or something is wrong with my operating system... any idea what happened???

    :)

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

    • I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

    • Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.
That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

    Searching Within Files

I have tried searching within files in Windows 10 for a string. However, through testing, it seems that when the string being searched for does not have a space in front, it ignores it. E.g. if the text in the file is 'The quick brown fox' and I search
for 'quick', it will list the file. But if the search string is 'ick', then the file will not be listed despite the text obviously being there. Any suggestions?

Too many files being searched on a quick scan

    Windows Defender - Quick Scan

Windows defender no longer offers a quick scan option.

    My options are:

    • Scan
    • Advanced Scan
    • Full Scan
    • Custom Scan
    • Windows Defender Offline scan
Whichever option I check, the scan will need to run for hours to complete.

    Is a quick scan available?

How do I restore this feature?
