Windows 10: Tools to diagnose wifi speed issues?

I'm looking for a Windows desktop tool to watch internet signal and wifi radio quality over time.

I live in semi rural Maryland using Comcast as my ISP. Fiber runs to a node about a mile away, and cable on poles is strung throughout the "neighborhood". A pole across the street has cable running under my yard to my box. Cable is split between upstairs and downstairs.

I have a Comcast Gigabyte modem. Several laptops are used throughout the house, two within 10 feet of the modem, but wifi signal is fairly strong even at the furthest laptop to the modem.

Most days the service is strong, and the laptops run about 250mb/sec to 600mb/sec, phenomenal throughput. Every week or so though I'll have a day or two where the internet connection (download) drops down to 1-2 digit numbers even though upload stays strong.

Over the period of a year I finally got access to the local engineers that work and maintain the lines, and sparingly reach out when problems are significant, since I work from home and depend on this connection. Last week they found a problem at the node for fiber/coax, and fixed something that worked for several days. But now it's back.

They asked me to monitor and take "notes" on times and speed drops, but I'm wondering if there is a tool that can run for long periods of time to watch the incoming signal for speed drops and internet connecting/disconnecting. Does something like this exist??? Something I can send them logs or screen shots of graphs?

Diagnosing Network Problems?

hi, i was wondering if i could get some advice?

I have my HTPC connected via wi-fi to my main rig. However, file transfer speeds are extremely slow, in the region of 300Kb/s.

My laptop is connected via the same wi-fi router and experiences much better speeds, normal wi-fi transfer speeds.

Before i throw my HTPCs wifi card out of the window are there any steps i can take to diagnose connection problems?

 

WiFi Speed Issue

I have a Toshiba Satellite with a new 500gb ssd and a clean Win 10 install. Internet download speed when connected to the router via cat 5 in approx. 150Mbps, but via wifi is about 2Mbps. My other laptop, phone and tablet all have no issues when connecting
via wifi so this is not a router or ISP problem. I've tried most of the suggestions found on line with no luck. Any ideas?
