Windows 10: Top portion of monitor is occasionally flickering a black rectangle in everything other...

I have been trying to fix this for ages and no matter what I do it just keeps flickering. I have built the PC myself but I'm positive that this is a software issue otherwise i wouldn't be working just fine in fullscreen videogames. My monitor which is a ViewSonic VX-2458-MHD is only recognised as a generic pnp monitor in Task Manager which has led to the monitor driver installer not working as it doesnt recognise the monitor.


If anyone knows what i can do I'd be very grateful as I've been pulling my hair out trying to fix this for hours.

Verticle blue rectangle on monitor

My boss's monitor at work has this teal/blue rectangle going from the top all the way to the bottom of the screen. It's a 23" monitor, I would say the line going down the screen is about 1.5-2" wide. It occasionally will fade away and everything seems normal, sometimes even turning redish instead of the blue. I don't figure there's much I can do for it, but if anyone had any ideas that might work I'm all for impressing the boss *Smile

 

The little black rectangle in the top right

Just purchased a new screen for my setup an acer xb281hk, and I noticed a black rectangle in the top right of the screen. Not knowing what it was I googled the issue. Most users advised to reinstall windows or do the whole sfc thing or said my screen had dead pixels.

Lets deal with the last bit advice, the black square was translucent I could still see an Icon under neath if it was dead that wouldn't happen.

So backed tracked what I did. I found out the retangle was only present when the monitor was in game mode.

What it turned out to be was this was the FPS count all I did is switch the screen in to game mode and went in and turned off FPS number and it's now gone.

No need to reinstall anything, no dead pixels no drama just a case of understanding the problem so before you reach for your recovery process double check the screen mode settings.

Monitor Dim and Flickers

I have a new Dell Inspiron 3668 cpu and running it with my old Dell ST2010 I have run the windows "troubleshoot screen flickering in Windows 10" from Windows help. When I go to task Mngr. it still flickers. So, I uninstalled the display driver as suggested
and then ran the "Check for updates". The problem still remains. Any further suggestions?? My next step is to just replace the monitor and assume Windows 10 will not run it!
