Windows 10: Top Row of Keys Don't Work, Only Work When Holding Down "Fn" Key

Split from this thread. Hello, I also can't find a way to switch fn key with the f1-12 keys. I did in fact do a clean install/ reset the laptop multiple times too so that might have something to do with it.I tried the laptop's settings, Lenovo vantage/setting, BIOS settings, control panel, Mobility Center, and updating the driver but couldn't find anything. I also tried fn+Esc, Tab, caps, shift, cntrl, alt, Win and the touchpad lock to try to "Fn lock" but that also didn't work.If you know anything that could help please tell me.

To better understand your query, please reply:

1. What do you mean by "top row not working" not working? Are you referring to keyboard top row keys?

I would suggest you to go to the safe mode and see if the problem persists.

To go to Safe mode follow the steps below:

• 
  Click on Windows key, and in the Power Options click on Restart while pressing the shift key.
  
• 
  A blue screen will appear with a few options.
  
  Click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Startup Settings > Restart.
  
• 
  Your system will automatically restart, press 4 or F4 key to go to the Safe Mode.

New laptop FN keys not working [Solved]

Exactly what I was used to do, pressing the FN key with an F key but that didn't work....
If I press the FN key I get f1 f2 f3 and so on.

It was just the other way around, but I figured it out now.*Smile

The FN key seems to be a toggle , I don't need to press it every time I want to adjust the volume or brightness.
With all my previous laptops I needed to press the FN key WITH the f key I needed to use, so it works slightly different on this laptop than what I'm used to.
