Windows 10: Toshiba USB 3.1 Flash Drive FIT Plus - Keeps disconnecting?

Hey I recently purchased both a new HP Pavillion PC and the flash drive mentioned in the title. I searched Google and couldn't find questions that directly addressed my issue.



So I have the flash drive in the USB drive and it, every now and then, makes the sound like it didn't connect, and the folder pops up. I can still use the drive, and I just close it, and it seems fine; but anyone know why this might be happening?

Toshiba Announces Encrypted USB Flash Drive

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today introduced the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive, a device that utilizes a hardware based encryption process to deliver a robust, secure (military grade AES 256-bit encryption), easy to use and affordable solution to safely make sensitive data portable. Ideal for enterprise companies, government agencies and concerned consumers, the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive offers a higher assurance of security.

Available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive uses a built-in mini-keyboard to authenticate access, incorporating a rechargeable battery so the user can enter a secure code before plugging into a USB port. Users simply enter their secure PIN and plug the drive into any USB 2.0 port on a compatible device. Once access is granted, the drive "unlocks" the media, permitting clearance to all of the content stored on the drive. When the drive is removed from a USB port, the drive automatically re-locks and encrypts the stored media.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

Flash Drive Constantly Disconnecting/Reconnecting Windows 10

We understand how difficult it could be when devices do not work the way they supposed to and we truly appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work on this issue. However, as you have mentioned that USB 3.0 flash drive is not being detected
in USB 3.0 ports but working in USB 2.0, it might be hardware issue as well. We would suggest you to follow steps mentioned below and check if the issue persists.

1. Connect the Flash drive.
   
2. Open Device Manager by searching for it in search bar.
   
3. Locate and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
   
4. Right click on USB Root Hub 3.0 and select
   Uninstall.
   
5. Make sure to check the box behind Delete the driver software for this device in the pop-up dialog box.
   
6. Once the uninstallation is completed, disconnect the drive and reconnect after few seconds.
   

We would also suggest you to update chipset driver from

Support for Inspiron 13 5379 and check.
