Windows 10: Total AV Disabled windows Defender

I have total AV installed on my computer, but it will not enable real time protection. Would it be windows defender is stopping it from working, and if I disable defender would it then work??thankscurly

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:



1. Open Windows Security by clicking on the shield icon in the taskbar or by searching for it in the Start menu.



2. Click on "Virus & threat protection" and then click on "Manage settings".



3. Make sure that the toggle switch for "Real-time protection" is turned on.



4. If you have Total AV installed, make sure that it is also turned on and running.



5. If the issue persists, you can try disabling Windows Defender temporarily and see if that resolves the issue. To do this, go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Security" > "Virus & threat protection" > "Manage settings" and turn off the toggle switch for "Real-time protection".



Please note that it is not recommended to have both Windows Defender and another antivirus software running at the same time, as this can cause conflicts and performance issues. If you choose to use Total AV as your primary antivirus software, you should disable Windows Defender permanently.

Windows 10 -- Defender and Total Av always turned off

Windows 10 - At login I always have to load Total Av as Windows security states Defender and Total AV .are turned off. Evan after loading Total Av again and I receive Total Av cover Windows Security stares they are BOTH off.

Total AV

You can remove Windows Defender. It's not that easy, and may break other Windows functions. Like, I use Bitdefender Internet Security (paid) AV and firewall.... but I've left Windows Defender installed. I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember that removing Windows Defender, broke Windows Updates. Using Autoruns v13.98, and unchecking the boxes with the RED dots, and rebooting, will allow you to disable Windows Defender in Services.

Well, the topmost RED dot is for Windows Firewall. My "recommendation" is to find a 3rd party AV (if desired), that will function "with" Windows Defender. Bitdefender, for example, disables Windows Defender, but leaves the program able to function if needed. Like this...



This way... Windows Updates will still work, and I can use my 3rd party choice. If with Total AV installed, it looks like the left-most pic then you should be good to go.
