Hi,Attempting to repair a laptop I bought with Windows 7 installed, which then updated to Windows 10 until it shut down 2-3 months post the update and has been unable to reboot since. I was able to follow all instructions included in Vijay B's Jan 14, 2014 response to similar issue until I get to step 4...I've been able to complete every step up until this.At the prompt, in response to the command bcdedit /export c:\bcdbackupI get the error..."The store export operation has failed. The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid."Attempted again...

    :)

    PLEASE HELP!!

I have the same problem with the identified windows installations 0

And im following your steps and when i reach step 4 it tells me:

The store export operation has failed.

The requested system device cannot be found.

    What shall I do?!!!

After diskpart list I have only 1 desk which is the USB, and 1 volume and 1 partition!!!

I set the SSD to inactive using the diskpart commands, and rebooted. I started another Getdataback scan, and this is what it looks like while running.

Edit: I'll also try Dalchina's suggestion and report what happens.

    Hello,

These steps actually worked for me. Then I made the mistake to go back and type in the command prompt bootrec / fixmbr

    Bootrec / fixboot

And finally bootrec / scanos and find the same error message I had before. Total identified Windows installations:0

After this I tried the same steps that worked as you mention above, but I encounter while trying to rename the bcd as a duplicate file.name exists. Is there another name I could use?
