  1. Touch screen disabled for only one user account - NAP locked down browser

I just wanted to put this here for others with the same problem. There's a closed question "Touch screen disabled for only one user account" and in the replies the NAP locked down browser caused the problem. This is still a problem with the 2025 NAP Locked down browser. The solution is to edit the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch\TouchGate, Change it to 1.

  2. Touch screen disabled for only one user account.

    Hello,

Recently I have encountered some issues regarding the touchscreen feature on my Windows 10 Laptop. I have discovered that my touch screen seems to be disabled for my user account only. If I were to go to settings > accounts > Family and other users and add a new account then the touch screen works perfectly fine on that account. This proves that it is not a physical problem but just an issue of a setting changed incorrectly on my account only.

Is there a way to resolve this?

Note: I believe that the issue was caused by the application "Nap Locked down browser" which has been verified to make modifications to the device are limited to the current account's profile. How do I reverse these changes? I do not want to reset or restore the PC to a prior version as this has occurred for over a year now.

    Thanks for your help.

Touch screen disabled for only one user account.

Hello Lucas, sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

You can try several methods to see if this will solve the problem.

You can check if you can enable the Touchscreen from Device Manager

-Press Windows + X keys and select Device Manager from the menu.

-In Device Manager, expand the Human Interface Devices section.

-Look for HID-compliant touch screen. Right-click on it and select Enable device if it's available. If the touchscreen is already enabled, proceed to the next step.

Sometimes, simply enabling the device isn't enough if the driver has been corrupted or improperly configured by the application.

-In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices, find HID-compliant touch screen.

-Right-click on it and select Uninstall device.

-After uninstallation, at the top of the Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes. This action will reinstall the touchscreen driver.

    Reboot pc.

If you think it's "Nap Locked down browser", to make sure, you can clean boot Windows to be sure.

A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game, program, or Windows system settings.

This is similar to starting Windows in Safe Mode, but allows you to better control which services and programs run during startup to help you isolate the cause of a problem.

Here's how to do it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

If the touch screen works in this mode, it is because an application is creating a conflict with the touchscreen. In this case, re-enable one app at a time to determine which one it is. Obviously, you can start with Nap Locked down browser.

Many windows issues after using NAP (Locked down browser)

    Hi Lucas Pournaris,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on the information you provided, this problem is not unique.

This is very clearly a problem caused by a third party.

For the current situation, it is very difficult to trace the root cause, and it is extremely challenging to provide solutions.

We can make an assumption that NAP only modifies your current account configuration and registry keys, which is the best assumption in the situation.

If you're still having issues with your new local account, then NAP's modifications to the device may have involved deeper system files or registry keys.

    • This is a worst-case scenario and there is nothing we can do about it.
    • Unfortunately, there is no way to ensure that no progress data is lost in this case.
This means that we face the same dilemma.

We understand why you want to preserve your files and progress as much as possible.

But the magnitude of the problem seems to preclude that possibility.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

    Best Regards,
