Windows 10: Touchpad and fingerprint sensor stopped working

Hi, I had an issue with my laptop where it wouldn't load windows, so I reset it using a external device. When I did this and went through my set up, I realised the touchpad wasn't working but I assumed that was how the windows reset worked as I haven't set up a laptop since I got this one in 2021. However, I found that when I had finished the set up, my laptop wasn't allowing me to use the touchpad at all. I tried going into Device Manager and deleting the device, as well as trying to update the drivers but nothing has worked. I checked a family members laptop and I realised that there was dev

Fingerprint sensor stopped working

I recently purchased an Acer Spin 3 SP313-51N, and the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. While I was trying to login using the sensor, there was a message that said "there was a problem on our end," so I tried to troubleshoot the problem by restarting. Only now the fingerprint sensor has entirely disappeared from the operating system and is no longer listed in device manager. I have tried installing the driver from Acer's website but the fingerprint sensor still doesn't appear anywhere, and Windows Hello is disabled, with the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint"

Thank you for your reply. I went back into the NGC folder and again it said I didn't have permission. I changed it to Administrators, Check Names and tried again unsuccessfully to delete it . Here are the contents in the attached Doc1 file: Is this the reason I am not able to fix the Fingerprint sensor in your opinion? Even after deleting the contents of NGC folder, what do you think I'll have to do next to get the Fingerprint sensor to work again? I'll try your option of downloading Emco Unlockit after I do a backup of my entire computer this morning using Acronis True Image Home Edition. Thank you very much for your excellent suggestions! Fingerprint Sensor Stopped Working - 23H2

Hi everyone,

I updated to 23H2 and then reset my machine, as I had a few minor issues and it was getting slow. The fingerprint sensor was working perfectly. Since I reset I have been having trouble with the fingerprint sensor. If I set up Windows Hello it will work a few times then the sensor will stop working.

I have tried - Uninstalling the driver in device manager and rebooting, manually installing a driver from Lenovo, blocking driver updates in the group policy editor in the event there is a bad driver on Windows update, turning Hello off and reconfiguring.

Nothing I have tried works.

I'm convinced it's a Windows issue as the sensor was working fine until I reset Windows.

My machine is a Lenovo Edge 15 (E15).

In device manager the fingerprint sensor is called "Goodix fingerprint"

Can anyone help? Cheers.
