Windows 10: Touchpad and Left Click not Working - windows 10

The Left Touchpad button and touchpad gestures have suddenly stopped working on my Legion Y540. The right button works well and both the clicks are working through an external mouse.

I have tried almost everything in the book to fix this - Uninstalling deviceI2C HID Device through the device manager. Reinstalling through startup...using external software to find a driver problem but all of them are saying nothing's wrong.

Also, note - the touchpad gestures and tap click start working if I change the primary key to right-click. Not working when the primary key is left-clicked though.

I somehow feel this IS NOT a hardware issue...and I really don't want to reinstall windows. Are there any external drivers that I can download for Y540 to make it work? Solutions Please.

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and touchpad drivers.
