Windows 10: Touchpad double clicks at random

Hi, often when I use my touchpad to left-click it often performs a double click, I am pretty certain its a hardware issue as it does not happen when I use a mouse, but I was wondering if there is some option on windows that sets a minimum amount of time to pass to double click, i.e not preforming a double click if the two clicks happens on the same millisecond ? Thanks

Corrupted touchpad driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We suggest uninstalling the driver to see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Open Device Manager.
  
• Double-click Mice and other pointing devices to expand.
  
• Right-click the TouchPad driver, then click Properties.
  
• Go to the Driver tab.
  
• Click Uninstall.
  
• Restart your laptop to automatically reinstall the driver.

Method 1:

Here is a method you can try:



1. Go to search and type File explorer options
and hit enter.

3. Under General Tab, in Click items as follows, select the
Double Click to open an Item option.

4. Click on OK to save the setting



Method 2:

Let's first run hardware and troubleshooter and check.

• 
  Open Control Panel.
  
• 
  Type “Troubleshooting “in the search box and hit
  enter.
  
• 
  Click on Hardware and sound.
  
• 
  Click on Hardware and device
  and follow the on-screen instructions.
  

Method 3:

You have to download the drivers from the manufacturer website.

Update the Mice & other pointing Driver. Follow the steps given below to update the Touchpad Driver.

• 
  Click on Start.
  
• 
  Select Device Manager.
  
• 
  Find and double-click Mice & other pointing Driver from the left panel to uninstall.
  
• 
  Right-click the device, and click Update.
  
• 
  If that doesn't helps, reinstall the driver in compatibility mode.
  

 

Double click on touchpad and mouse not working

2 or 3 days ago double click to open files and quit working w/the mouse and the touchpad.

I see no settings describing double clicking in for the mouse or touchpad. I have gone to the device manager and looked for mouse driver updates - there are none. I do not see the touchpad listed in device manager.

I am using an ASUS FX504 i5 8th gen.

I appreciate any help.
