Windows 10: Touchpad driver missing on HP laptop running windows 10 as default OS

A few days ago my touchpad just randomly stopped working. It was working fine, I closed my laptop to get some papers from my car and when I came back the touchpad was not working, at all (I did close the laptop but it did not turn off or update). I was confused so I restarted my laptop and nothing worked. Luckily I have a usb mouse on hand. I've tried several different methods but they all state "Update your driver". How am I supposed to do this if the driver is literally missing? I'm an IT so it's not like i'm going at this blind, but this situation is frustrating and i'm willing to try anything to get my touchpad back.

P.S. Yes i tried the double-tap and I tried every F key.

Installing W10 on this Laptop

HP Stream 11 under Windows 10 - Touchpad not recognized.

Are you making sure you are trying the correct driver for the WiFi... They list Broadcom, Intel, and/or Realtek.

Also, try to run the installer as an administrator install.

If that fails... try extracting the files and manually install the driver.

 

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
