Windows 10: Touchpad Driver Missing

In the Device Manager there is no touchpad driver on my Surface Pro 7, just a mouse driver.* I have downloaded the driver packages at microsoft, that did nothing* I've checked for updatesThe reason I want to update the driver is that I have a deadspace in the middle of my trackpad probably palm detection there is no setting for palm detection in the touchpad settings, and the "additional settings" sends me to the mouse settings, not trackpad settings. It's making the laptop unusable so I've been trying to fix this for 2 hours now. :

Incompatible device drivers are known to operate against the method that Windows 10 follows. We suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to scan your computer, identify the problem, and attempt to fix the issue automatically. To run the
troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start icon and select Control Panel.
• Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on
  Troubleshooting.
• Click on Hardware and Sound > Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.
  

If the issue persists, uninstall the touchpad driver, then follow these steps to check if the issue is driver related:

• Right-click on the name of your PC at the top of the list of devices in
  Device Manager.
• Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the device driver, or download and install the latest version from the manufacturer’s website.

Synaptics Touchpad Driver Broken

If your touchpad isn’t working, it may be a result of a missing or out-of-date driver. We suggest that you install the generic driver that comes with Windows.

• Open Device manager, right-click(or tap and hold) your touchpad driver.
• Click the Driver tab, select Update driver software.
• Click Browse my computer for driver software, select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
• Select HID compliant mouse, click Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

If changing your driver doesn't help, there may be a problem with the touchpad itself. Contact your PC's manufacturer for help.

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
