  1. Touchpad Inconsistent in recognising mouse connection, remains on despite setting

Hi Microsoft Community,On my current and past Surface Pro I have had an issue with the touchpad being inconsistent in turning off when a Bluetooth mouse is connected. In Touchpad settings I have touchpad turned on and the "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" setting deselected. Despite this, it is a lucky dip whether the touchpad will indeed remain off. Yes, going in and cycling the "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" tick box solves or just turning the touchpad off both solve an instance of this issue occurring. It is the inconsistent recurrence of the fault that I am seeki

    Touchpad mouse - inconsistent

My Surface 3 doesn't always recognise the touchpad mouse...touch screen works and a USB plug-in mouse works.

Any help as to why this is such an inconsistent situation wd help.

Is there something quick I can do to get the touchpad working as opposed to trying re-starts or being restricted to the USB plug-in option...?

    Thank you

How to get PC to recognise a mouse as a touchpad?

    Hi Microsoft community.

I am using an Arteck 2.4G Wireless Touch TV Keyboard and was wondering if there was a way to get Windows 10 to recognise the touchpad as a touchpad rather than a mouse so that I can change the touchpad settings?

The keyboard is connected via a USB wireless receiver which shows up as the connected device in Control Panel. Under the "Hardware Options" for the wireless receiver it lists the touchpad as an "HID-compliant mouse" running "mouclass.sys" and "mouhid.sys" version 10.0.19041.1 drivers.

Currently Windows does not give me any touchpad options in the System settings or Control Panel for this device - only mouse options.

Is there a generic driver or any other way I can get Windows to recognise it as a touchpad so I can access the touchpad options?

    Many thanks in advance.

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

    Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:
    • start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
    • windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
    • various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
    • device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.
Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
    Thanks
