Windows 10: Touchpad issues

So the two finger scrolling stopped working on my touchpad. I thought it might just be some dirt messing with the signal but I cleaned it and the problem still persisted, even when I restarted my computer.

I found where you can disable or enable touchpad options but it says two finger scrolling is enabled yet it does not work. I looked up some solutions on google and ended up rolling back the driver, didn't work and I did not like the outcome of that so I went back to update it and found a completely different mouse in its place, uninstalled that and restarted my computer. It now has the touchpad listed under mouses again but it's still being weird, everytime I move the mouse somewhere it jumps back a bit, so if it's a small button I will miss it completely.


Basically, I have run out of options and also made the situation worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest the following steps :

• Press Windows + X
• Click on Device Manager
• Right click on TouchPad drivers in the list.
• Choose Upgrade Drivers
• Reboot computer

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.

• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and touchpad drivers.

Method 3

If issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers in Compatibility mode and check if it works:

Follow the steps to uninstall the touchpad driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Issue with Touchpad scrolling

This issue might occur due to incompatible or outdated drivers and missing updates.
I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it.

Follow these steps.

• 
  Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.

  In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
  
• 
  Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
  
• 
  In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.

  In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes”
  option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
