Windows 10: touchpad lagging and super slow

I have recently noticed a massive change in the touchpad sensitivity, it is no longer precise and lags loads, I have tried to change the settings to account for this, as well as installing/updating drivers. I am not sure why this has started. I recently updated my laptop so maybe that is it. Not very useful for university assignments

I once has a super slow PC. The cause of it was the CPU heating up due to dried up thermal paste between the CPU & the heatsink & a fan choked with dirt.

I would suggest that you take a look there. HOWEVER, be sure to have a spare tube of thermal paste in the event that you want to separate the CPU fan to confirm.

Another issue would be an ageing HDD causing slow reads which in turn cause serious lag.

TouchPad lagging and not moving

Method 1: I suggest you to try installing drivers in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if
that helps.

• Download the touchpad pad drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the
  issue persists.

Method 2: I suggest you to perform DISM scan and check if the issue is resolved. I suggest you to try the following steps:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

• • DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  • DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.
