    TouchPad/Mouse Properties

I have just got a new Lonovo 330 laptop and wanted to change the touch pad setting so I can disable tapping. When I open mouse properties there is no device settings tab so I can't change any settings relating to the touch pad. Spoken to Lonovo tech support who just said that this must be due to the version of windows 10 and that the only way to change the tapping setting would be in the registry. Can this be right? Seems odd to me. In proprieties it say Alps virtual HID device, tried updating the driver but it makes no difference.

    Any advice gratefully accepted

    Thanks

    :)

    Touchpad

    Hi Denise,

To address your concern, we suggest that you check if the touchpad is enabled in Mouse Properties.

Please follow these steps below to check the status of the touchpad.

    • Click Start and choose Settings.
    • Click on Devices. Choose Mouse & touchpad. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click
      Additional mouse options.
    • The Mouse Properties window will open. Click the tab furthest to the right (ELAN
      or Device Settings).
    • Under Devices, check if your touchpad is disabled. If it is disabled, click the touchpad to select it and then click
      Enable.

Let us know how it goes.

    Interferance with touchpad properties.

Let’s try simple steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. I would recommend you to update the touchpad mouse driver and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key + R and type
      devmgmt.msc
      and hit the Enter.

    • Go into Device Manager and click on
      Mice and other pointing devices
      .

    • Right click on the Mouse and click on properties.

    • Now click on Driver tab and locate for the
Update Driver and click on it.
Hope this helps. Post us with the status we will be glad to help you.

The exact reason why updating the mouse controller would stop windows 10 from turning off a feature on the touchpad is beyond me.

HP Pavilion dv7 notebook pc. 8 GB 1333 MHz memory. I would like to upgrade to 32GB but HP says the motherboard manufacture is wrong and 8GB is all that it can use. The feature of the Synaptics PS2 port touchpad that is being turned off on system boot
is the "disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is attached." . Do you think you can address this issue?

    TouchPad/Mouse Properties

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

    Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:
    • start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
    • windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
    • various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
    • device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.
Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
    Thanks
