Windows 10: Touchpad/mousepad not working, but wired mouse does.

Hello there, i been having a laptop for a few years now and everything been fine. But recently today my pad stopped working despite trying to reset the drives and restarting computer..I plugged in a wired mouse and it works, but not the touchpad anymore. and yes i tried unplugging mouse to see but nothing happened, i think its just forever broken unless i bring it to a computer doctor one day. It also had this reflective marking on top on the outside of it like a burn

Mouse and touchpad not working

Hey did exactly what you suggested and the first time i did it the mouse cursor became visible, it was at the center of the screen but i still couldnt make it move with the touchpad and i plugged in my usb mouse and that doesnt work too. I did it a few moret times but cursor never showed up again and still could make either the touchpad or the mouse to work. Do you have anymore suggestion?

This is really weird;

Usually the opposite happens, the mouse works well on the mousepad and does not work correctly on the table;

How is your mousepad?

Is your mouse a specific gaming model?

Before answering the questions, I suggest you try to uninstall mice from Device Manager;

Access the Device Manager;

Click (>) Mouse and other pointing devices to expand the section;

Uninstall all devices listed under (>) Mouse and other pointing devices;

Then restart the PC;

Check if the problem still persists;

freezing mousepad/touchpad

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your mouse. Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter
