Windows 10: Touchpad not present in device manager and settings

Hello,My laptop is a LAPTOP-FPBGPKTI ASUS. My touchpad was working for a while but then it suddenly stopped and there's a virtual touchpad icon present and I cannot find it in settings nor turn it off. My built-in touchpad is not present in either the settings or device manager. I have tried un-disabling the touchpad by pressing F9 + Fn with the touchpad crossed out icon. I've tried installing new drivers and new microsoft updates but nothing works.

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Touchpad device shows as not present

It should be listed under "Mice and other pointing devices" in Device Manager.

Kindly check if it's listed and see if the touchpad works. If it's not listed, please install the download and install the driver directly from the manufacturer website, or check for the latest Windows Updates.

Please reply whatever the results.

 

Touchpad device shows as not present

My touchpad stopped working and I am receiving this error message in properties:

This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)

I have tried update driver, disable device and roll back driver and nothing changed. Does anyone have any suggestions?
