Windows 10: Touchpad not working, Elan Input Device Code 45

My laptop touchpad has been having issues. First, I'll notice the mouse cursor being slow or laggy/glitchy, then it will just completely stop working and I'll get Code 45: currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. I've tried uninstalling elan input device and restarting my laptop, but that will either get the touchpad working again for 5-10 minutes before it gets glitchy again or do nothing at all. I'm not sure if this is a windows 11 issue, as I had this issue in windows 10 and it went away when I took my laptop for some unrelated repairs. Though the problem did start

I recent came across this issue with my parents laptop.

Windows insisted the device was an ELAN touch pad (which it is), but would install ELAN Touchpad 15.8.4.3_X64_WHQL.

However, I visited the ASUS website, and found the latest Touch Pad drivers for Windows 10 (ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Driver & Tools - R510CA
), which was ASUS Smart Gesture (For Windows 10 Upgrade / Touchpad Driver) V4.0.5. I had to uninstall the previous driver first, then installed this one, and it worked. It actually installed the device as an ASUS Touchpad instead of the previous ELAN device.

I've performed several reboots and Windows update checks, and while the ELAN tab still appears on the Mouse Properties screen, all options are disabled because there are no active devices using it.

 

Deleted Elan touchpad from Device Manager


Hey guys,

I updated to windows 10 and when i am gaming i prefer to put my touchpad(from Elan) OFF but i couldnt it kept making me move in different positions in the game when i accidently made contact with it . The shortcutkey of disable/enable didnt work since i updated to windows 10 apparently it was a drivers problem so i went to Device Manager and clicked on the touchpad everything was greyed out so i deleted it from my device manager. I restarted my laptop and the touchpad didnt work which is good but i also want to use it sometimes just for the fun of it.

Later when i went to the new touchpad driver from Elan i downloaded it and tried to install it and it said i need to go to configuration screen -> programs and delete it from there. I didnt knew this... did i do something wrong now? i am about to delete that old Elan driver program from programs right now but i fear that i shouldnt have deleted the touchpad in the device manager...

Old program from Programs- I cant delete, a pop up shows up that says i am about to delete it but it wont... gonna restart laptop.





Edit: When i try to delete it doesnt do anything... is it because i deleted my touchpad from Device Manager and thats why it cant be removed or something? or did i actually did the right thing?


UPDATE: After restarting my touchpad worked again so i assume it appears back automatically into the device manager. I could finally delete my old elan touchpad software now from Programs, i will need to restart but i cant be asked now since i restarted 2 times already. 2morow i will see if i can enable/disable my touchpad.

Elan Touchpad not working (code 24)

Earlier today, the touchpad on my laptop (an MSI Ghost Pro, model number GS60 2PE) ceased functioning entirely, with no response from the cursor when swiping or clicking when pressed upon. When I checked the Device Manager, the Elan touchpad was only visible
when I activated 'view hidden devices', presenting the error message of Code 24. Attempts to reinstall the official drivers have not changed this at all, the touchpad remains entirely non-functional. Any solutions to this issue would be extremely appreciated.
