This is the driver I mentioned earlier already! v17 is not new, it is from 2013. The v19 driver is the new one, which doesn't seem to work on a lot of systems.

Remember, when you install this one, you need to hide the v19 in Windows Update, or it will get updated with the faulty one again.

Thanks, Rudy! I missed that. The driver install file is new as of yesterday and allows non-techies to not have to delete any drivers. I'll watch for Windows over-writing it...hopefully this fixes that, too.

After a clean install on my Acer Aspire | M my driver was wonky too. Started scouring the web for a solution, in the meantime it rebooted after an update and lo and behold, it was working again! I reckon a new Synaptic driver was a part of the Windows update?

Touchpad not working for windows 10.

I am searching for fixes using my tablet but can't utilize them because I can't do anything without the touchpad. The tab and arrow buttons on the keyboard only go across not able to open internet browser or device settings.

UPDATE: I FIXED MY TOUCHPAD! Not sure if this might help anyone else, but here's what I found...

I was looking at my function keys. On my Gateway, NV53A, I noticed F6... it shows what I thought was a screen, with a finger touching it, and the circle with a line in it (on/off presumably). Out of curiosity, I hit Fn+F6, and BAM!! I have my touchpad back!

Not sure where else I could post this to help, but all week I have been looking thru 100's of posts about the same issue. I don't know that this is the perfect answer, but it solved my problem.

I also have a Toshiba laptop and the switch for my touch pad would not or will not operate. I checked the device drivers and it showed no conflicts and that it was working okay.. Then I realized that I had some F-keys controls, damned if I couldn't turn the touch pad off/on with the F-key's...

To fix this problem all you have to do is go under you devices, to the mouse and touchpad tab and go to additional options. once here go to the hardware tab, click on you elan mouse and go to the properties.Once here you will want to go to the driver tab and push the roll back driver button. This will give you the windows 8 software and your mouse will start working after you restart your computer. DO NOT PAY TO GET THIS FIXED.

  8. Touchpad not working for windows 10.

    THANK YOU!!

Until tonight, my touchpad has not worked since I upgraded my Toshiba laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a month ago. I have installed several different driver versions, rebooted I-don't-know-how-many-times, disabled/enabled the touchpad through the device manager, unplugged/re-seated the usb for my bluetooth mouse, yada, yada, yada, and still my touchpad would not work. Then I read your post ...

I cannot believe that this button does not do the same thing as the device manager enable/disable functions. It isn't as if it's a switch ... it's just a toggle button. <boggle>

  10. HOLY CRAP! How the heck have I never noticed that?!?!?! You TOTALLY just saved my sanity! I have been wrestling with this stinkin' thing for about a month now using a tiny travel mouse with retractable cord that just annoys the heck outta me.
(Just so you know, I seriously registered with the forum today just so I could reply to this and thank you!!!)

I've been pulling my hair out updating Windows 10 drivers, rolling back, restarting for over a week now and then I saw your simple solution and OMG! F7 fixed my Acer Aspire Touchpad!

There is indeed a F7 button with a finger pointing to thouchpad and so I pressed Fn & F7 and t worked!

I hope other sufferers discover your post and can fix their touchpad problem Touchpad not working for windows 10. :)

  12. I had the same problem on my Windows 10 toshiba laptop. I was just browsing and then the touchpad randomly stopped working. Like the mouse would not move. I was pressing tons of different buttons trying to get it to work but it simply would not move. I know this is stating the obvious but have you tried shutting down your PC and opening it again? I simply shut down my PC and turned it on again and there it was. My mouse was working again.
    Hope this helped people.
    Goodluck.
