Windows 10: Touchpad not working/functioning/available after the FORCED windows 10 (spring 2018)...

Formal question: How do I get my touchpad to appear/work/communicate with WINDOWS 10 again? (All attempted solutions typed below)


Make: ASUS laptop, Model: UX501VW *("About" system OS and build info, etc. below)


I've tried:

1) "using the function key to enable/disable"

2) Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad option > Additional mouse options (my touchpad doesn't show at all here)

3) Device manager > Human Interface Devices > I2C HID Device (this shows the yellow warning triangle. I tried disable/enable device, updating driver (get "best drivers for your device already installed"), uninstalling device (see below), scan for hardware changes...) NOTHING WORKED.

^4) Uninstalling the old drivers to reinstall the newest ones on the ASUS website (https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ASUS-ZenBook-Pro-UX501VW/HelpDesk_Download/)

A) (the "ATK package") Version V1.0.0050 2016/10/17 ATKPackage ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities

B) (the "ASUS touchpad") Version V4.0.16 2016/10/14 ASUS Smart Gesture (Touchpad Driver)


^When I do step 4, and restart the OS, the "boot manager" screen appears. (first attached picture)

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Touchpad not functioning following upgrade to windows 10

Following my recent upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8, the touchpad on my HP Envy dv7 laptop stopped working. If I go into the device and hardware folder in settings, there is no option for touchpad available. It is as if the touchpad does not exist.
I am able to use an attached mouse to navigate, but would like to have a functioning touchpad. Any suggestions?

 

Touchpad gestures NOT working

Hi Abuzar,

Your touchpad drivers might be outdated or corrupted. I would suggest that you update the touchpad driver. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key and X together and select
  Device Manager.
• Locate the touchpad driver.
• Right-click on the touchpad driver icon and click Update Driver software.
• Click on Search automatically for Updated driver software option.

If the driver for Windows 10 is not available, download and reinstall the latest touchpad drivers from the manufacturer website.
