Windows 10: Touchpad of my laptop stopped working

I have been using an Hp laptop Hp pavilion x360 convertible 14-dy0190TU 533T7PA for like 3 years. Since last one month the touchpad stopped working. then I checked internet and forums suggesting different procedures including from hp support community where i posted the same question. Only one thing could revive the touchpad i.e the disabling of i2c hid device in device manager, restarting the pc and then enabling it. Later on i also found sometimes entering BIOS could also do it but sometimes .It would run for 15 minutes to half an hour before scumbing again. After all this stuff faile

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I did check the driver was up to date in device manager as suggested. I read that article and one of the suggestions was to boot up in safe mode. This confirms the touchpad drivers are up to date and there is no problem with the hardware.

The touchpad also works ok when the laptop initially boots up to the login screen. It just stops working as soon as Windows opens up after login

What is stopping the touchpad from working after login???

Initially I suggest you go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest touchpad drivers;
