Windows 10: Touchpad problem with HP Pavilion 13 A006NA after installation of Windows 10 update KB5026361

My HP Pavilion 13 A006NA has developed a problem as if the touchpad is generating random spurious inputs. Problem developed after Windows 10 Update KB5026361 was released this Tuesday, 9th May 2023. Coincidence?Is anybody else experiencing touchpad or keyboard problems with this model of laptop that have only developed after installing KB5026361?Have tried using external wired mouse via USB to see if problem associated with touchpad device, but cannot turn off the touchpad.

Problem with touchpad on HP Pavilion after updating to Windows 10

I am currently having the same issue. I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-7000. I did the same steps you did with no avail. I went to HP website and there was no driver available for me to download, also Windows update is up to date. I was hoping you or someone else was able to solve this issue by now.

Any help would be appreciated.

This issue may occur if the touchpad drivers are not up to date.

Method 1:

You may try to update the Mouse and touchpad drivers and check if it helps.

Please follow the steps given here to update the touchpad drivers.

a) Press Windows +X keys on the keyboard.

b) Select Device Manager.

c) Find and Mice and other pointing devices and expand it.

d) Right-click the Touchpad
drivers, and click Update driver software.

e) Follow the onscreen instructions to update Mice and other pointing device drivers.

f) Reboot the computer and check.

Method 2:

If the issue still persist, I suggest you download the updated touchpad drivers from the manufacturer’s website by entering your model number of the laptop.

After downloading drivers from the above link install the drivers in compatibility mode and check.

Follow the steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode.

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
  Properties.
• Click on the compatibility tab and check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for and select previous Operating System from the drop down menu.
• Click on Apply and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

HP Touchpad

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. My touchpad does not work. When I go to device manager it is no longer listed. Since it is not listed I cannot update a driver etc.

How do I get the touchpad listed in the device manager again?
