  1. Touchpad settings disappeared completely and the touchpad itself does not work

Hi,I have had a problem with my touchpad not working for some weeks now - if not months - and I have tried almost every solution that comes up online, I have even checked if anybody else had a problem like this, and I found someone, but they had a DELL, not an HP. I have checked my device manager and there seems to be an issue with the 'I2C HID DEVICE'.It shows a yellowish-orange triangle and I don't know how to fix it anymore. Here are my;Device detailsTouchpad settings disappeared completely and the touchpad itself does not work :Device name - Desktop-AXCFU24 Processor - IntelR CoreTM i3-1005G1 CPU @ 1.20GHz 1.20 GHz Installed RAM - 8.00 GB 7.70 GB usable Device

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

    Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:
    • start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
    • windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
    • various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
    • device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.
Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
    Thanks

  3. Touchpad settings disappeared when I tried to download

    Hi Roy,

Thank you for the details and sorry for the delayed response.

I suggest you to set the touchpad sensitivity to Balanced from the settings which might fix the issue. Follow the steps below.

    • Press Windows key + X and select Control panel.
    • Search "Mouse" from the search bar towards the top right corner.
    • The Mouse Properties window will open.
    • Click the "Device Settings" or "Touch Pad" tab, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. If you have a "Device Settings" tab, you will then need to click on your touchpad from the list of devices and click "Settings."
    • Click the "Touch Sensitivity" button, or select "Sensitivity" from the list that appears on your screen, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. Drag the slider in the middle of the window to the left to make your touchpad more sensitive, and drag it
to the right to make your touchpad less sensitive. The effect will be immediate, so you can drag and release the slider, and then test the touchpad and drag the slider again until you have found a sensitivity setting that works for you.
    • Click "OK" at the bottom of the window to close it and save your changes.

    Hope this helps.

    turn off touchpad

Thanks for trying I downloaded driver for touchpad, followed the steps you listed but it did not solve the problem - When I get to the last tab for the software, there is no checkbox for "disable touchpad if mouse is attached." I can completely disable the
touchpad by system, and you, advised against this so at least I had the warning not to completely disable touchpad. I have tried the other options suggested but to no avail. Frustrating!
