Windows 10: Touchpad stuttering on BRAND NEW windows 10

Hey. I just did a clean install of my Dell Inspiron 15 3000. It's kinda old, but I did just wipe the whole hard drive and so far things are looking good. The issue is my touchpad (and mouse that I plug in) both are stuttering. They run fine for 1 second, then freeze for 1 second, then run fine again. Repeat.

Again, the OS is brand new. I tried adjusting mouse speed, updating/deleting mouse drivers, enabling the "scroll on windows" option on and off, etc...I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

And, I also downloaded the Dell Command Updates and ran it. Still nothing -- says my PC is up to date.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
