Windows 10: Touchpad suddenly stopped working today on my HP Compaq 850 G4 after a Windows 10 update

Touchpad suddenly stopped working on my HP Compaq 850 G4 Windows 10.I'm guessing it happened after a Windows Update.Symptoms:1 the Synaptics touchpad icon no longer shows up in the System Tray. Earlier I could access certain settings directly from there. One of the settings was a checkbox for leaving the Touchpad on when a mouse was connected.2 I can still access the Synaptics settings via: Right-Click on Start button > Settings > Devices > Touchpad > Additional SettingsI've tried all the other suggestions offered on the internet, e.g.:- uninstall the Touchpad in Device Manager

Hi, please confirm there appears to be a driver for your touchpad listed in your Device Manager.

What do you see here? If you see these settings, are they correct?




Is there a setting in the BIOS to disable your touchpad?

Your PC appears to be about 5 years old and has drivers listed for Win 10- is that correct?
