Windows 10: Touchpad/Wireless mouse enable/disable settings Win 10 Home

My gaming laptop I have set to disable the touchpad when my old wired mouse is connected, since my wrist rests on the touchpad as I'm playing. When I'm done playing I unplug the mouse and the touchpad automatically works again. This is just a general setting in Windows 10.

Now though I have a wireless mouse. When I connect the dongle to the USB port, the touchpad is always disabled. I would rather it only be disabled once I turn the mouse itself on (which coincides for when I want to actually use the mouse, be that in a game or otherwise). Once I turn the mouse off, I need the touchpad to work, but don't want to have to manually unplug the mouse dongle every time I need to use the touchpad again.

Is there a way to configure this behavior in the Windows settings? Thanks.

I have a precision touchpad. Only touchpad settings available are through settings/touchpad where I have disabled touchpad and disabled taps through the advanced gestures settings. This kept it disabled until the latest CU version .674 and now it is back. I can enable and then un-enable it, restart and no touchpad but after several hours it resumes on it's own. It always shows it is disabled even when it has resumed working. Tried using run command restart /r /t 0 suggested above by Slicendice which seemed to work but the issue is back. I use a MS wireless mouse. tried disconnecting and reconnecting it. It came with zero software unless in the USB adapter. I cannot find the touchpad through any mouse settings, only through settings/touchpad and through device manage but DM has no settings available. Dell laptop, one year old, specs listed to the left. OEM win 10 home upgraded every step to .674

To address your concern, we suggest that you check if the touchpad is enabled in Mouse Properties.

Please follow these steps below to check the status of the touchpad.

• Click Start and choose Settings.
• Click on Devices. Choose Mouse & touchpad. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click
  Additional mouse options.
• The Mouse Properties window will open. Click the tab furthest to the right (ELAN
  or Device Settings).
• Under Devices, check if your touchpad is disabled. If it is disabled, click the touchpad to select it and then click
  Enable.

After upgrade from win 8.1 to win 10 on HP 15-d045nr laptop, cannot disable touchpad when usb mouse is installed. MANY MANY suggestions tried with no success. Help!!
