  1. Touchscreen calibration issues

I'm having issues with using the touch-screen on my new Surface Pro 7 - especially with a regular stylus pen (not a digital stylus like the Surface pen). I tried calibrating the touch-screen in the settings, but the setup is not running properly.

When I click "calibrate", I select "touch input", and the system asks me if I want to allow the digitizer calibration tool app to make changes to my device, and I select "yes". But then after that nothing happens - it just goes back to the configuration settings page.

When I click "setup", I select "touch input", and it brings me to a white screen that says "tap this screen with a single finger to identify it as the touchscreen", which I do, and then it says to "press enter to proceed to the next step to complete your configuration", which I do (though this requires attaching an external keyboard, as I don't have a type cover), and then it just goes back to the configuration settings page.

And both the "reset" and "apply" buttons are greyed out.

    Any advice?

  2. Touchscreen Calibration

When updated to Windows 10 Pro, we can no longer calibrate our touchscreen. The touchscreen works, it just doesn't click what we want it to.

  3. Touchscreen driver

To assist you further regarding your concern, we' d like to know which version of Windows are you using? On the other hand, you may uninstall and reinstall the touchscreen driver on your device. To do this, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, type Device Manager and press
      Enter.

    • Expand the Human Interface Devices section, right-click on
      HID-compliant touch screen.
    • On the Driver tab, select Uninstall and click
      OK.
    • Restarting your device may download and reinstall the touchscreen driver automatically if you're computer is connected to the Internet. However, we suggest that you visit the manufacturer's website of your device to get the latest touchscreen driver.

Note: There may be more than one HID-compliant touch screen
listed. If so, complete steps 2, 3 and 4 for each one. It is also recommended that you install every updates available for your device.

Once you're done, you may adjust the accuracy of the screen senses by calibrating it through the settings. To do this, you may follow the steps below:

    • Click Start, type Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input
      and press Enter.
    • Click Calibrate on the Display tab and follow the on-screen instructions, click
      Save to save the calibration.
    • Once you're done, click OK and check if the issue persists.

Keep us updated about your concern for additional assistance.

    windows touch calibration issue

    Thanks for keeping us updated.

We're now suspecting the driver installed for your Touchscreen device. Please follow these two methods and see if any of them will work:

Disable and enable the touchscreen driver

    Note:
You'll need a keyboard or mouse connected to your device
    .

    • Go to Device Manager by searching it using Cortana.
    • Select the arrow to the left of Human Interface Devices to unfold it.
    • Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
      Disable
      .
    • Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
      Enable
      .

Note: There may be more than one HID-compliant touch screen listed. If so, complete steps 3-4 for each one.

    • Restart the PC if prompted in each device driver.
If disabling and re-enabling the driver did not work, try to Reset touchscreen calibration: Go to the
Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input screen, and press
    Reset
    button.
