    TPM 2.0 Failure


    I recently upgraded to Windows 11, my motherboard has TPM 2.0 built in. Yesterday I upgraded my RAM from 16GB to 32GB, I did some messing around with overclocking. I also noticed that the TPM is no longer being recognized. I tried resetting the motherboard settings and even taking the CMOS battery out, putting the old RAM back in, and nothing worked. Will I continue to get updates for Windows 11, or will I have to replace the motherboard or find a compatible TPM 2.0 chip?

    Don't know if this is the right place for this thread but whatever, laptop informed me that " a firmware update is needed for you security processor (TPM)," now, i looked up what to do and from a microsoft support thing, the last step says to clear the tpm. it has a warning saying to back up my data, i would like to know what clearing the tpm does, and what measures i need to take to make sure nothing goes wrong.

    Intel Updates Core 2 Quad Q9550 to E-0 Stepping

    We continue our Monday news list with another Intel story that brings to our attention information concerning the company and more specificly its 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9550 chips that will move from the current C-1 to the newer E-0 stepping. The updated chips will start selling on August 22nd, featuring the following changes:
    • New SSpec and MM numbers for the converting products
    • CPUID will change from 0x10677 to 0x1067A
    • Package change to Halide free package
    Apart from that, the new stepping CPUs will not include any other changes. Of course, like most new stepping parts a BIOS update will be needed.

    I couldn't find "TPM" or "Trusted Platform Module" listed in any BIOS setting on 2 of my laptops. Got the mobo ID from system specs and did a bit of searching ... ah, there it is, not actually called that exactly, but same thing, and was disabled. Enabled ... booted up, ran tpm.msc. Bingo! Alive and well.

    Your search engine will be your friend (one of mine even had a YouTube step-by-step how to access the BIOS, what to look for, etc).
